When Troy McQuagge became head of USHEALTH Group, he wanted to change the company’s image and re-align its priorities. His goal was to leverage the company’s past success and accumulated resources to make it more responsive to the needs of local communities. The HOPE program is one of the primary vehicles for putting this strategic vision into action.
The HOPE acronym stands for Helping Other People Everyday. It has become thoroughly integrated into the structure and operations of the larger company. HOPE is not a mere corporate gimmick created to polish the reputation of USHEALTH Group. From the very start, Troy McQuagge son took a personal interest in ensuring that the program would actually provide services to communities across the country. Indeed, that is the founding mission and vision of the program: to make a positive difference in the lives of others.
The HOPE program has had a number of concrete successes since its inception in 2010. Tony’s first project after establishing the program was to partner with a local relief and aid organization in New Orleans. The purpose of the collaboration was to help re-build homes in some of the areas that were hit hardest by Hurricane Katrina. The company expended significant resources to raze and restore many homes so that people would have a safe and decent place to live. Read more about Troy McQuagge Son at dailykos.com
A year after it was founded, the executives of the company provided thousands of dollars for the purchase of shoes, baby formula, and other items at a Phoenix shelter. In 2012, USHEALTH leaders went back to Phoenix to give HOPEKids Arizona, a non-profit children’s organization, a check for $25,000. This money will be used to support children who have cancer and other serious diseases.
The spirit of the HOPE program has spread throughout the company. Employees of all departments, branches, and positions have gotten involved and are putting their personal time, talents, skill, knowledge, and money into improving the program and helping it produce more results. To give help to ordinary people and to provide resources and support to struggling communities—these were the twin aims of the program, and they are being met every day by dedicated members of USHEALTH Group.
