Dr. Saad Saad is one of 8 children born to a poor family in Palestine. He has gone on to become the personal pediatric surgeon of the royal families of Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Bahrain and the Persian Gulf. Dr. Saad also performed pediatric surgery on a baby with an aneurysm, the youngest patient to ever receive such a surgery. Dr. Saad Saad got his medical degree in Egypt at Cairo University with honors, did his internship in England and earned his board certification and did his residency in pediatric surgery in the United States.
When asked how he was able to do so well in medical school, Dr. Saad Saad his family was poor, so he knew he had to do his very best. And he has continued to do his best for his patients all around the world. Dr. Saad was chosen to serve as the pediatric surgeon to the royal families in the Middle East because he is board-certified and fluent in both English and Arabic. After living in the U.S. for 45 years, he and his family spent four and a half years in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia and it was an exciting adventure. Dr. Saad said Dr. H Biemann Othersen from Charleston, South Carolina, his mentor, advised him to treat all people as equals who deserve quality care. Dr. Othersen taught him he should treat all children alike no matter their financial status, mental or physical abilities, religion or color. He also told him to be hard-working, kind and honest. Dr. Saad said that was his most valuable lesson. Dr. Saad has done just that whether on his four medical missions throughout the U.S., or treating children and young adults on 8 medical missions to the West Bank and Jerusalem to provide the poor with free surgeries.
Dr. Saad Saad has performed several thousand pediatric surgical procedures. He’s constantly working to improve traditional procedures and methods to reduce the amount of risk and pain his patients face. He has patented two inventions and developed several new pediatric surgical procedures. Dr. Saad invented a device which enables medical professionals to find catheters lost inside the body without using a scanning machine. He also created an endoscope which has a self-contained suction to remove fluid and provide a clearer view for surgeons.
